NHL to stop testing players without symptoms for COVID

The National Hockey League (NHL) will stop testing for coronavirus players without symptoms of the disease or will conduct such testing less often, journalists Frank Seravalli and Elliott Friedman report.

According to Seravalli, the league will not test players and staff who are asymptomatic after the All-Star break, assuming NHL infection rates continue to decline. The All-Star Game will take place on February 5 in Las Vegas.

All-Stars will be tested for COVID once before traveling to Las Vegas, but will not be tested on site unless they develop symptoms.

Friedman also says the new rules will go into effect after the All-Star Game, but notes that players and league staff without symptoms will be tested less frequently.

Russian hockey player “Washington” became infected with coronavirus 60% of them have passed these tests in the last five weeks.

In December 2021, the NHL board decided to pause the season due to the high number of cases of infection in almost all clubs in the league. Also, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the NHL leadership refused to let hockey players go to the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
