FIFA 2022 World Cup put on sale the cheapest tickets since 1986

The cost of the cheapest category of tickets for the World Cup matches in Qatar will be the lowest in the history of tournaments since 1986, when the world championship was held in Mexico, the press service of the International Football Federation (FIFA) reports.

Putin instructed to help with preparations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar Football FIFA on Wednesday announced the start of accepting applications for tickets for World Cup matches. The first stage of sales will last until February 8. Category 4 tickets, which are only available to Qatari citizens, will cost less than $11.

As the Times notes, tickets of the third category, the cheapest available to residents of other countries, will cost $70, while at the 2018 World Cup in Russia they cost $105.

Earlier, the organizers of the World Cup in Qatar were repeatedly criticized for the fact that most of the workers and migrants who build stadiums and infrastructure facilities will not be able to attend the matches themselves, since they will clearly not be able to afford tickets.

At the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, the cheapest tickets cost $3, which was then the equivalent of a full day's pay for ordinary Mexican workers.

According to the release, FIFA intends to conduct another stage of sales before the draw for the final part of the World Cup, which will take place on April 1. Other stages of sales will be after the draw.

The matches of the final part of the World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 21 to December 18.
