The Figure Skating Federation has announced the deadline for the decision on the participation of Valieva in the Olympics

The decision on the participation of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva in individual competitions at the Olympics will be made before 18:00 Moscow time on February 12, Olga Yermolina, press attache of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), told RIA Novosti.

“Whether or not they will be allowed to participate in an individual tournament will be decided today by 23:00 Beijing time (18:00 Moscow time). The decision on the case will take a long time. Not here and not now,” said Yermolina.

Individual competitions for singles will be held in Beijing on February 15-17. The decision on Valieva's participation in them will be made by the exit panel of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

CAS accepted IOC and WADA complaints about Valieva's admission to the Olympics Olympiad 2022 On February 11, CAS registered complaints from the IOC and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), which allowed Valieva to the Olympics. The International Skating Union (ISU) also announced its intention to challenge the admission of the skater to the Games.

The International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) announced on February 11 that a laboratory in Stockholm had detected the banned substance trimetazidine in Valieva's sample, which the figure skater passed on December 25.

The problems with this doping test became known after Valieva won the Olympic gold as part of the Russian team.

RUSADA on February 8 imposed a temporary suspension on the skater due to a positive doping test. However, the following day, the RUSADA Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee lifted her provisional suspension. It was this decision that the IOC and WADA appealed against.

The decision of the CAS away panel will only concern Valieva's further participation in the Olympics. On the issues of possible disqualification of the athlete or deprivation of Russia of the gold of the Games, decisions will be made later.
