The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) imposed a temporary suspension on the skater, but the athlete successfully protested it. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Skating Union (ISU) will appeal the decision to lift the provisional suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). The CAS visiting panel will consider the case of Kamila Valieva before the start of the individual figure skater tournament at the Games, which starts in Beijing on February 15. Until then, the skater can train without restrictions.

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), in a statement, stressed that all other tests of the athlete, including those taken at the European Championships and the Olympics, were negative.
