Peskov urged Valieva not to hide her face and win

Russia (bbabo.net), - The situation with Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva is a misunderstanding, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, is sure. He called on everyone to support the athlete, and asked her not to hide her face, to perform and win.

"Our sports officials are doing their job. Now we are convinced that we are talking about some kind of misunderstanding," Peskov said, answering journalists' questions at a briefing. "Our sports officials have certain questions regarding the timing of testing Valieva's samples. We record these questions and the concerns of our sports officials, but we do not comment and do not want to comment on the situation," he stressed.

“We are waiting for the completion of the proceedings,” Peskov said. “And we absolutely unlimitedly and completely support our Kamila Valieva and call on everyone to support her. And we say to Camila: Camila, do not hide your face, you are a Russian, proudly walk everywhere and, most importantly, speak out and defeat everyone !".

Recall, the International Doping Testing Agency reported that the awards ceremony for figure skating teams at the Beijing Olympics was postponed due to a positive doping test result for Valieva. When, after training, a British journalist turned to her with a question about doping, the athlete covered her face with a hood and did not answer or communicate with the press.

Commenting at the request of journalists on US plans to bring to justice those involved in the situation with Valieva under the "Rodchenkov Act", Peskov noted that Moscow categorically disagrees with the cross-border application of American law - whether it concerns sports or anything else. "And here there can be no cooperation," he stressed, noting that the IOC and WADA, which the Kremlin treats with great respect, are now dealing with the issue. The presidential press secretary said that now is "the time of the Olympics" and urged not to rush. "We will wait until the proceedings are completed and the IOC will make and publish its decision," he concluded.

“For now, we all support Kamila Valieva and wish her success,” Peskov said.
