Appeal filed against the admission of the Olympic champion after a doping scandal

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered the appeals of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against the cancellation by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) of the provisional suspension of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, R-Sport reports with reference to the official website of the court.

The International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) on Friday reported that Valieva's doping test dated December 25, 2021 tested positive for trimetazidine. The test result was handed over by the anti-doping laboratory in Stockholm on February 8. RUSADA imposed a temporary suspension on Valiyeva, after the athlete's appeal on February 9, it was lifted. For now, she is allowed to continue competing in the Beijing Olympics.

"In the near future, a panel of arbitrators will be appointed to resolve this issue. The panel will issue procedural directions, including directions for a hearing. The date and time of the CAS decision will be announced later after the hearing," the statement says.
