Doping Valieva

The International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) reported that a banned drug, trimetazidine, was found in Kamila Valieva's sample. The Russian figure skater passed the test on December 25 during the Russian Championship.

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) on February 8 temporarily suspended the figure skater from competitions, including the Olympics. Valieva appealed the decision. The appeal was granted on February 9. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Skating Union (ISU), in turn, will challenge the decision on the admission of Valieva to the Olympics in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The decision on Valieva's further participation in the Games will be made by the CAS visiting panel. The deadline is February 15th. It is on this day that competitions in women's singles figure skating begin, in which the Russian woman plans to participate.

Earlier, the Russian team with Valieva won the team tournament. But the award ceremony for athletes has not yet been held due to the doping incident.

The hockey team reached the quarterfinals

The Russian national hockey team, as in the first meeting at the Olympics against Switzerland, achieved victory, showing weak hockey. On Friday, the Russians did not outperform the Danes, but thanks to a goal in the second period, they managed to take three points. The match ended with a score of 2:0 - the second puck flew into the opponent's empty net.

The head coach of the Russian team, Alexei Zhamnov, said that hockey players do not follow the instructions. “In general, the impression is not very good,” he said.

However, despite the obvious game problems, the Russian team reached the quarterfinals a round before the end of the group stage. After two matches, the team has six points. Neither the Czechs, nor the Swiss, nor the Danes will be able to catch up with her.
