Initiated an investigation into the personnel of the Olympic champion in Beijing

The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has initiated an investigation into the staff of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva, whose sample was found to contain a prohibited substance, R-Sport reports citing the agency's website.

It is also reported that the reason for the delay in checking Valieva's doping test and reporting was cases of coronavirus infection among staff in the laboratory in Stockholm.

The International Doping Testing Agency (ITA) reported that Valieva's doping test dated December 25, 2021 tested positive for trimetazidine. The test result was handed over by the anti-doping laboratory in Stockholm on February 8. RUSADA imposed a temporary suspension on Valiyeva, after the athlete's appeal on February 9, it was lifted. For now, she is allowed to continue competing in the Beijing Olympics. The World Anti-Doping Agency, the International Olympic Committee and the International Skating Union intend to appeal the removal of the suspension to CAS.

Recall that Valieva as part of the Russian national team won gold in the team tournament in Beijing 2022. Earlier, Kazakhstani Elizabeth Tursynbayeva spoke with words of support for her.
