The leadership of the Russian Premier League (RPL) plans to hold a meeting next week with representatives of the RPL clubs, where issues related to the introduction of Fan ID will be discussed. This was told by the President of the RPL Ashot Khachaturyants, quoted by the press service of the league.
“We actually sent letters to the clubs asking them to assist in organizing such a meeting and we intend to discuss with the representatives of the clubs for work with fans all the current issues of introducing a fan card. Moreover, we intend to make such meetings regular,” Khachaturyants said.
Assistant to the President will meet with RPL clubs due to the introduction of Fan ID “This is our basic principle. Both the league itself and the clubs are interested in seeing the audience of Russian football grow. And we want to understand what we can do in our realities," Khachaturyants added.
He noted that the facilitation of obtaining a fan card is currently one of the key issues. “It is very important to build a dialogue and hear each other,” Khachaturyants said.
The document on the introduction of an electronic fan ID was adopted by the State Duma and passed all stages of approval in December last year, on June 1 it will come into force. A FAN ID will be required to attend certain competitions, a list of which will be further determined by the government.
The boycott of Fan ID was announced by fan associations of 15 out of 16 RPL clubs (except Akhmat). The press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said that it is necessary to have a dialogue with fans about Fan ID.
