CAS declared irreparable harm for Valieva in case of non-admission to the Olympic Games

The Court of Arbitration for Sport panel found that the removal of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva from participation in the Beijing Olympics in the current circumstances would cause her irreparable harm, the CAS decision says.

“The visiting panel took into account the fundamental principles of fairness, proportionality, irreparable harm and the balance of interests between the applicants and the athlete who did not test positive for doping during the Beijing Olympics and who still requires disciplinary proceedings after passing a positive test in December 2021 goal. The away panel decided that the removal of the athlete from the Olympics in these circumstances would cause her irreparable harm, ”the decision says.

The CAS court panel announced on February 14 that it had dismissed appeals by the IOC, the International Skating Union (ISU) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against RUSADA's decision to lift Valieva's suspension after testing positive for trimetazidine.
