Kazakhstani went down in history and doubled the prize money for the 2022 Olympics

Short tracker Abzal Azhgaliyev showed the best performance of Kazakhstan at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, bbabo.net correspondent reports.

The flag bearer of the national team reached the final at a distance of 500 meters, where he took fourth place. Before that, in Beijing, none of the Kazakh athletes showed such a result.

In addition, fourth place brought Azhgaliyev prize money - he was entitled to 30 thousand dollars. He also became the first Kazakhstani in history to compete in the individual finals in the 500m short track at the Olympics.

Earlier, Azhgaliyev, as part of the Kazakhstan short track team, took fifth place in the mixed relay, for which all athletes received their first prize money.

Recall that for the gold of the Olympics, an athlete from Kazakhstan receives 250 thousand dollars, for silver - 150 thousand, and for bronze - 75 thousand. Also, bonuses are due to Kazakhstanis who took the fourth, fifth and sixth places - 30, 10 and five thousand dollars respectively.
