According to the results of the short program, Shcherbakova lost less than two points to Kamila Valieva. She noted that she completed the task and was satisfied with the rental.

“I am very pleased with the performance, today I completed the task. Surprisingly, I was practically not nervous, I calmly controlled every movement, jump, rotation. This is very important,” she said.

Shcherbakova added that she performed in new skates and this did not bother her at all.

“The skates are about three days old, I often change them during the season. Of course, I didn’t want this to happen at the Olympics, but I was ready for this,” the skater said.

Medals in women's single skating will be played according to the results of a free program on February 17.
