Figure skater Kamila Valieva survived and won the short program at the 2022 Olympic Games

Russia (bbabo.net), - This article is not about points and quads. It is also about the vicissitudes of fate, about someone else's meanness, to overcome which will and courage are required. Far from all of us, these qualities are formed and honed in the way that a little girl, tired from shock, threw off everything black that they tried to smear her with even before entering the white ice. The figure skater was the former Camila, who worked her miracles. And only one, the brightest and sunniest element, was not shown by her. We did not see a smile, to demand, even just to wait for which would be blasphemous after everything that happened to Valieva at this Olympics.

Already on Thursday, Camile is back on the ice - to fight in a free program. You can admire the fragile tenderness of Anya Shcherbakova. Counthinkable number of quads, which Sasha Trusova will decisively go for. But the heart will order to root for Camila, who is fighting with the misfortune that has fallen on her. She will definitely overcome it.

The champion in women's singles will be announced on February 17. But, not wanting to offend our nice girls Anya Shcherbakova and Sasha Trusova, we are still rooting for Kamila. Regardless of whether she will have a gold medal or not. And if there is and the IOC does not allow it to be handed over, it is still the main gold for us. Millions in Russia and abroad have already made her the champion of their hearts. How can you take away love?

The IOC is desperately worried: interest in the Olympic Games is falling. How not to fall? Will fans not only in Russia but all over the world still believe in the Olympic slogan "Faster, Higher, Stronger" after the cotton hysteria? President Bach voluntarily edited the motto of the founder of the IOC, Baron de Coubertin, adding the word "together" there. But what kind of "together" is there when, just hours before the Olympic tournament, a 15-year-old girl is forced to testify, make excuses, prove her innocence in an online court?! Let in sports, but still the court, which lasted seven hours. A tough test for adults too.

Fans of the trips

And even after the acquittal of the CAS, we were tripped up again. In the team tournament, medals are still not going to be awarded. And if Camila wins a medal in singles, then this award will not be received. Having quickly reforged the approved rules, the ISU allows not 24 athletes, but 25 to compete. Let's translate all this into simple Russian, commented by lawyers. The IOC, WADA, ISU, who lost the court, did not accept defeat. Their goal is to finish off both Valieva and our entire team. The Games will end, and quietly, or perhaps loudly, the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport will find a way to challenge, put pressure on, and take away the medals.

Hissing sounds: to apply the American "Rodchenkov's law" to Camila. Recently adopted in the US and named after a defector and maker of infernal doping cocktails, it is believed in the US to arrest anyone anywhere in the world who breaks this caricature law. Even if the athlete is in another country, America may require his extradition. And there the culprit (from the point of view of someone else's Themis) can really be planted. How the IOC will protect its sports subjects has yet to be announced.

Oh, sport, are you the world?

And yet we will be horrified. What a war has come to in modern Olympic sports, if you have to consider such quite possible options for the use of brute American force. It is bitter if the Olympic movement takes a course towards degeneration. There is no place in it for the hatred thrown in our faces in Beijing. But how much of what is happening in it does not look like what we usually learned: "Oh, sport, you are the world!". The author of the ode, the Baron de Coubertin, would have shuddered to learn about the methods of unclean play penetrating his Olympian offspring. What kind of peace is there if a war of annihilation is waged against us?

International sports organizations compete not just with a girl from Russia. They chose the most vulnerable object: the best figure skater of this century and, probably, centuries past. And so small, but how popular. The court should have become indicative in this sports war, I'm not afraid to use it, declared to us.

And how many instigators this war has. Anger carries from the provocative appeals of American, Canadian leaders of sports and, this surprised me, figure skating. But what about the new word "together" from the current motto? And I don’t want to names of the screamers, so as not to dirty the paper. Meaning: Remove Valieva from Beijing, disqualify. Russians are generally not allowed to the Games for several Olympic cycles.Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news » Back to news »

Jesuit receptions in "Soldier's Valley"

Trial hostilities began in a place with the symbolic name of "Soldier's Valley" at the 2002 Winter Olympics in the dullest American Salt Lake City. I am standing on top of a hill, looking through binoculars at the start of the women's ski relay. And so I feel calm: our girls are so much higher than the rest that if you put up at least the second squad, Russia's victory is still guaranteed. A minute before the start, my calmness turns almost into a panic. We are not visible at the start. Well, is it really possible to be so carelessly late for the most important relay race of the four years? Where are you, our Olympic champions Larisa Lazutina, Olga Danilova with the whole team?

Where, where... Even further than Karaganda. An hour before the race, clerks from the International Ski Federation kindly informed the athletes and coaches who came to the Soldiers' Valley: Lazutina and Danilova were not allowed to the relay. Something prohibited was found in their doping samples. The Jesuit Fathers might envy the obscure clerks. The news of the violation sounded an hour before the start, which meant that substitutions were not accepted. The spares could also come out, but they didn't. After all, those are the rules. The fuss began, disputes, protests, and a fleeting run along the track, which promised to turn into a Russian triumph, quickly ended in someone else's victory.

Then there were trials, evidence of guilt and innocence. Reproaches (that's right) that the Russians spend so much money on lawyers. In short, the courts were not won, though not completely lost. Lazutina and Danilova left.

What's the difference: their names were already firmly associated with something bad, dishonest. So loudly inflated by the Americans and their partners that obviously did not require any evidence.

It's the same in figure skating. Suddenly, it is completely incomprehensible why a hysteria began, which grew, I would say, by modern standards into a pandemic. The Western and especially the American media demanded that the Russian figure skaters Elena Berezhnaya - Anton Sikharulidze give up honestly won medals and they would be handed over to the Canadian couple. Even the night before, the then president of the International Skating Union, Italian Ottavio Cinquanta, remarked at a press conference in such a stubborn way: "What do you think: do people in Moscow agree with this position?" But the next morning he abruptly took a different course. He is an honest and good man, a lawyer, but, apparently, it was impossible otherwise. And Cinquanta trembled, a revision of the decision made the day before began.

And in the evening there was a "re-rewarding". Together with Sikharulidze and Berezhnaya, a Canadian couple also went on the ice. This four were decorously, as if nothing had happened, were awarded gold medals. It remains only to be surprised what a great tact our coach Tamara Nikolaevna Moskvina and her pupils showed in this ugly, hopeless situation. And the Canadians, who snatched off other people's medals, somehow immediately disappeared from the figured horizon.

So a set of measures to harass Russian Olympians has been accumulating for years. And here they are, thrown out.
