In slopestyle, the referees left Anastasia Tatalina without a medal

Russia (bbabo.net), - Specialists and fans expected a lot from the wonderful freestyler Anastasia Tatalina at these Olympic Games. The 21-year-old athlete arrived in Beijing as the current world champion in big air and one of the contenders for medals.

Alas, in big air Nastya was able to take only tenth place, but she really hoped to take revenge in the slopestyle discipline.

During the passage of the track, athletes are required to perform a series of acrobatic jumps on springboards, pyramids, counterslopes, drops, railings, located in series. Slopestyle requires good technical preparation of athletes and the accuracy of tricks, as a fall on the track can lead to a loss of speed and the inability to perform the next trick. The figures on the track can be arranged in one, two or more rows, and, passing the track along one or another section, the athlete has the opportunity to choose an obstacle.

In the final stage, athletes make three jumps, and the best one counts. Anastasia Tatalina fought for the medal on an equal footing with her rivals. For her best attempt, Anastasia Tatalina received 75.51 points. At the same time, the arbitrators discussed for a very long time what points to give to our freestyler. Alas, this result allowed Tatalina to take only fourth place.

Above were the Swiss Mathilde Gremo (86.56), the Chinese Eileen Gu (86.23) and the representative of Estonia Kelly Sildaru (82.06). Anastasia was very disappointed and could not come to her senses for a long time. Gathering her courage, she went to the mixed zone, where she told our colleagues from Match TV what she thought about refereeing:

- Everything is obvious. I think I just got sued today! The grades went down all day. It's not fair. Here's what I can say about the results. In the last attempt, I made a double-14, no one performed it today. This is the most difficult trick, I was very happy with my performance, but I can’t understand what happened to the referees. I was shocked when, at the end of the attempt, I received only 75 points! Now we will deal with the coaching staff in the situation. This is incomprehensible, my fare is not 75 points, it was not fair.

Can I file a protest?

Anastasia Tatalina: At the moment, nothing can be changed, but we will fight to the end, because it's not fair.

Have you ever experienced similar situations before?

Anastasia Tatalina: I've come across this before, but today's situation has shown what the sport has become. This is completely different ... I have no words, to be honest.

How are you doing?

Anastasia Tatalina: I don't know. After the ride, I can't hold back anymore.

Our officials supported the athlete. So, the president of the Freestyle Federation of Russia (FFR), Alexei Kurashov, said that it was necessary to carefully understand what had happened:

Anastasia Tatalina: I think that they just sued me today! The grades went down all day. It's not fair!

- We believe that Nastya Tatalina should have been in the medals. Based on the complexity and purity of the execution of the program that she completed in the third run, especially the last, most difficult jump. Of course we are upset. Unfortunately, there is no practice of filing protests in the world freestyle. They are possible only in ski-cross, but not in other disciplines. We will prepare an analysis, there will be an official appeal from our side. We must not leave this unattended. We believe that Nastya was held down by her grades. According to our coaching staff and the Russian judiciary, she should have been among the winners today. We will work better, complicate our programs. Some time ago, none of the fans of freestyle, in principle, imagined that we could compete in slopestyle for Olympic medals. Now we can impose competition. Either way, this is a significant step forward.

In the meantime, qualifying competitions for freestylers in acrobatics were held.

Alas, Maxim Burov, who made mistakes in two jumps, will not be able to continue the fight for world medals. But Stanislav Nikitin and Ilya Burov were able to qualify for the main final, which will take place today.
