The doping test of Ukrainian bobsledder Lydia Gunko gave a positive result at the Beijing Olympics, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the official website of the International Testing Agency (ITA).
Gunko's doping test was found to contain dihydrotestosterone (a more active form of testosterone). The test was passed on February 14 at the 2022 Games in Beijing. The results became known on February 17.
Gunko was informed about the incident and suspended from the competition in accordance with the anti-doping code. She has the right to challenge the imposition of a provisional suspension in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), as well as require the opening of a second doping sample.
At the 2022 Olympics, Gunko took the last, 20th place in the women's monobob competition. Let us add that another Ukrainian woman, skier Valentina Kaminska, passed a positive test for doping in Beijing earlier.
The tournament in figure skating has ended, where after the first day of competition the 15-year-old Russian woman Kamila Valieva, who was caught doping, was in the lead, but admitted to the competition.
