Information has appeared on the Web about the transition to Kairat of CSKA Moscow defender Viktor Vasin. The bbabo.net correspondent talked about what the experienced defender is known for, and also told about his performances in recent years.
The 33-year-old defender is a three-time champion of the Russian Premier League with CSKA. On account of his 13 matches in the T-shirt of the Russian national team, in which he scored two goals. On the eve of the transfer to the Almaty club, insider Ivan Karpov announced.
Vasin was born in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) and started playing football in his native city. From the age of 12 he was engaged in "Change", which was later transformed into the Zenith Academy. But Victor did not try to gain a foothold in the basis of his team, preferring to go to another club. In 2006, Spartak Nalchik became the first club at the adult level for Vasin. For five years, he belonged to the middle peasants of the top division of the Russian championship. There he managed to play with the players (both current and future) of the Kazakhstan national team, among whom were Andrey Sidelnikov, Kazbek Geteriev and Roman Uzdenov. He spent one of the seasons on loan at Nizhny Novgorod.
In January 2011, he was bought out by CSKA Moscow for 700 thousand euros. However, in the first 3.5 years in the "army" he played for the main team only eight matches in all official tournaments. Competition with Sergei Ignashevich and the Berezutsky brothers made itself felt. Moreover, Vasin spent his best season before moving to the capital in the second division as part of Nizhny Novgorod, and then immediately the championship ambitions of CSKA.
But during this period, Viktor won the Premier League and the Russian Cup twice, and once again became the owner of the country's Super Cup. In the summer of 2014, he went on loan to Mordovia from Saransk. He helped the club to eighth place in the table, making 30 appearances and scoring two goals. This season was the best in the career of a defender and the first stable at the level of the Premier League.
However, this did not allow him to gain a foothold in CSKA - in the 2015/16 season he played only seven meetings. But he made his debut in European competition, playing at home with Wolfsburg (0:2) in the group stage of the Champions League. After that, Vasin went on another lease - this time to Ufa.
After spending half a season as part of the Bashkir club, Vasin played all 17 matches in the championship without substitutions. And by the beginning of 2017, he returned to CSKA. Then he finally managed to stake out a place in the composition.
In the 2017/18 season, he played 12 matches in European competition alone, scoring an assist in matches with the Greek AEK and the Portuguese Benfica. But the second half of the campaign was overshadowed by a cruciate ligament rupture, due to which Vasin was out of action for 14 months. Victor returned to the field only in April 2019.
In his best season in CSKA, the defender received such a serious injury, and after it he did not play so often for the capital. In August 2019, his knee began to torment him again, as a result of which Victor was operated on. He was out of action by the end of the year.
The 2020/21 season passed without injuries, but Vasin was frankly losing the competition for a place at the start. In the same season, the Kazakhstani all-rounder Bakhtiyor Zainutdinov joined the “army team”. Over the past year and a half, Vasin played 23 matches for CSKA, scoring two assists.
This season, Victor was unable to compete with the main defender Igor Diveev, with 35-year-old Kirill Nababkin, whose main position is on the right flank of the defense, and also lost the competition to the nominal defensive midfielder Yaka Biyol. And this despite the fact that due to an injury in CSKA they could not count on the main central defender Hordur Magnusson. With all this in mind, for half a season, Vasin played only six meetings, without particularly remembering anything.
As part of CSKA, he spent a total of nine seasons (minus the loan period). During this time, Victor played 98 matches, scoring two goals. He won three championships, two Cups and one Super Bowl. But he did not become an important player of the starting clip and the leader.
As part of the Russian national team, Vasin made his debut back in 2010, playing a friendly match with Belgium (0:2). In total, he played 13 matches in the national team jersey, ten of which were in test games. In them, he scored two goals, hitting the gates of the Belgians and Chileans. Only three matches of Victor in the national team were in the framework of the official tournament - the home for the Russians of the Confederations Cup-2017.
He played his last game with the national team more than four years ago. It was a friendly match with Spain, which ended in a draw - 3:3.
As part of "Kairat" Vasin will be the second oldest player after the Brazilian striker Joao Paulo. But Victor will become the tallest player on the team - 192 centimeters.
Note that Vasin's transfer fee is now equal to 500 thousand euros, and according to this indicator, an experienced defender may be at the end of the top ten in Kairat. The maximum price tag for Victor was in December 2017, when he was estimated at 2.8 million euros.Well, how can you not do without this photo?
