Iranian accused of doping at 2022 Olympics found guilty

The Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) found Iranian skier Hussein Save-Shemshaki guilty of a doping violation at the Beijing Olympics, R-Sport reports citing CAS.

It is noted that the doping test of the athlete, taken in the Chinese capital, gave a positive result for anabolic androgenic steroids, which are included in the list of banned substances of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

On February 9, he was temporarily suspended from the Beijing Olympics.

The Olympic accreditation of Save-Shemshaki has been cancelled. The 36-year-old Iranian is required to leave the Olympic Village within 24 hours of notification of the CAS decision. The proceedings will continue without the participation of CAS, the International Ski Federation (FIS) must decide what punishment can be imposed on the skier after the Olympic Games.

Save-Shemshaki participated in the Olympic Games in Vancouver and Sochi.

Recall that earlier a Ukrainian athlete was also caught doping.
