Beijing hosted an awards ceremony for figure skaters who won Olympic medals in individual competitions.
Russian Anna Shcherbakova was awarded the gold medal, her compatriot Alexandra Trusova received the silver medal, and the Japanese Kaori Sakamoto was awarded the bronze medal.
The ceremony might not have taken place due to the situation with another representative of Russia, Kamila Valieva. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) stated that the awarding of athletes would be canceled if Valieva was in the top three. This measure is connected with the ongoing investigation into the case of a doping test of a 15-year-old figure skater. However, Valieva ended up in fourth place.
