WADA reacted to Russian woman's explanations about doping

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) did not consider sufficient proof of the innocence of figure skater Kamila Valieva, according to the reasoning part of the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), RIA Novosti informs.

Doping test Valieva, taken at the end of December, gave a positive result. The International Olympic Committee (IOC), WADA and the International Skating Union (ISU) filed a protest with CAS, which was rejected. The figure skater was allowed to participate in the individual Olympic tournament in Beijing.

Representatives of the athlete said during the meeting that the banned drug trimetazidine could have entered her body through the household route, as it was taken by Camila's grandfather, who drove her to training.

“The athlete provided no independent or documented evidence that her grandfather took trimetazidine. There is no evidence of his purchase of the drug, nor prescriptions. There is no scientific evidence that the concentration of trimetazidine found in the sample can be explained by accidental exposure to the drug,” states WADA in paragraph 78 motivational decision CAS.
