The U.S. Figure Skating Federation has filed an appeal with the CAS against the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) not to hold an awards ceremony in the team tournament and demanded that American skaters be solemnly awarded silver medals before the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, AP reports, citing a letter from lawyers addressed to the head of the IOC, Thomas Bach.

Representatives of the visiting panel of CAS confirmed that the case will be considered on the evening of Saturday, February 19th.

The American side insists on presenting medals to figure skaters at the awards square in Beijing.

Zhulin addressed the head of the IOC with an open letter in defense of Tutberidze. The 2022 Olympics The team tournament in figure skating ended on February 7, the Americans took silver in it, and the Russian team, which included Kamila Valieva, won gold medals.

After the end of the competition, it became known that Valieva's doping test, taken back in December, gave a positive result for the presence of the banned substance trimetazidine.

The IOC, WADA and the International Skating Union (ISU) have filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), seeking to challenge Valieva's admission to the competition. However, the CAS dismissed the complaints and cleared her for further competition.

The IOC has announced that it will not be holding an awards ceremony for the team tournament.
