In Beijing, Tarasova and Morozov won a medal, which they missed in Pyeongchang

Russia (bbabo.net), - Tarasova - Morozov were second after the short program, but in the free program Zhenya made mistakes on the parallel jump and ejection. The pair slipped to fourth place. How bitterly Zhenya sobbed then! Now the tears of both are tears of joy. They won the silver, losing 0.63 points to the Chinese duo Sui Wenjing - Han Cong, who also took revenge for the missed "gold" of the previous Games. The partner faltered on the parallel triple salchow (didn’t turn the speed and landed on two legs), but the quadruple twist and native walls helped to keep the lead.

It's a shame to lose with such an insignificant margin? Undoubtedly. But our silver medal is worth a lot. Evgenia and Vladimir, for the first time in a very long time, gave two great skates - without falls and ridiculous breakdowns of elements, which even their coach, two-time Olympic champion Maxim Trankov, who was rooting for the guys with his soul, caused only comments that escaped from the depths of his soul.

Tarasova - Morozov has always had something that can make a perfect couple. Speed, gliding, lines - this is an undying classic. Exemplary spins that can only be envied.

But everything was spoiled by instability in the performance of technical jumping elements. But almost more than for endless mistakes, they were criticized for the lack of their own, well-recognized style, for unsuccessful productions that do not reveal their full potential and do not allow a promising couple to realize themselves.

After the Olympic season, the coaching staff of Nina Moser, who made Trankov and Tatyana Volosozhar the champions, took a break. And the guys continued to look for themselves.

It’s a pity that Marina Zueva’s training in the USA failed due to a pandemic. But they were always supported by Max Trankov. And the transition to the Eteri Tutberidze group may have been a fateful decision. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't all in vain.

In Beijing, we finally saw a strong, stylish, mature and self-confident couple. As if they stopped being afraid to make a mistake, to disappoint a partner or coach, but believed that they could fight not only with the young and daring couples of Tamara Moskvina, who came to the fore in the last couple of seasons, but also with the Chinese - even on their site.

Zhenya, Volodya, you, Maxim Trankov, have such genuine emotions after the performance. How to describe them in words?

Vladimir Morozov: Now there is such an emotional emptiness inside. We feel like we can breathe. I want to come to my senses and really enjoy this moment: the Olympics have come to an end, we have coped with everything, completed our task. We did everything we could - both in the short program and in the free program. Therefore, they are satisfied with themselves and their skating.

The Russians won the overall standings of the figure skating tournament, winning six medals, of which two gold medals were in the team and singles competitions

Are you happy with "silver", or are these 63 hundredths haunting you?

Vladimir Morozov: Truly a gem. But I think everyone is happy with their medals today. In figure skating, an Olympic medal is the pinnacle of a career. And it means a lot to us. For the past four years, we've been working just for this moment. But after that Olympics, we had great difficulties, problems. The year before last, due to the pandemic, there was simply no ice, we had nowhere to skate. After the World Cup, we asked to see Eteri Tutberidze. She took us, despite the fact that she has her own group of girls, where each was aimed at the pedestal. But she agreed, gave us time, helped. Her great merit, her team is that she brought together specialists specifically to work with our couple: Alexei Tikhonov, Pavel Slyusarenko, Maxim Trankov, who had been with us before. I think we are very lucky.

Like Anya Shcherbakova, you were able to give a rental of life at the main start. How did you do it?

Vladimir Morozov: We were well prepared. We understood this at the European Championships. There was also a good performance of the short program, but also flaws in the free program. We trained at home, in Moscow, then in Krasnoyarsk, then in Beijing. Until recently, it was not clear who would be on the team. We were ready. But the personal tournament was still a priority. They kept themselves in shape, rolled up programs for automatism.

Was it hard to keep your concentration, your mood when you wait so long to get on the ice?

Evgenia Tarasova: We have been here since the opening of the Olympics. In order not to throw everything out in advance, I had to keep everything to myself. And when we stood in the final pose, realizing that the Games were over and ended well, that's when emotions flooded in. I'm just happy. I can't help it, I can't stop smiling.
