German tennis player Alexander Zverev was removed from the tournament in Acapulco, Mexico after hitting the referee's tower with a racket, R-Sport reports.

Earlier, Zverev and Brazilian Marcelo Melo lost to Briton Lloyd Glasspool and Finn Harri Heliovaare - 2:6, 6:4, 6:10. At the end of the meeting, Zverev went up to the chief referee's tower and struck it several times with a racket.

"Due to unsportsmanlike behavior at the end of the doubles match, Alexander Zverev was disqualified from the tournament in Acapulco," the Association of Tennis Professionals said on Twitter.

Zverev advanced to the second round in singles against German Peter Goevchik. Zverev had the second seed number.
