A 20-year-old Russian from the NHL club has a brain tumor

Russian hockey player Rodion Amirov has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, R-Sport reports.

Amirov is a player of the Toronto NHL club and plays on loan for Salavat Yulaev, which is represented in the KHL. The hockey player became aware of the disease after information posted on the website of the North American club.

“In the process of recovering from this injury, he developed some new, unrelated symptoms that required ongoing in-depth research over the past few months. Rodion is currently being treated at a medical facility in Germany and will not return to the game until the end of the season. Our medical staff has been involved in this process along with Salavat Yulaev's doctors and we are constantly in direct contact with the institution (where Amirov is based) to oversee his treatment and care.Rodion has the full support of Toronto and we will continue to provide him with the best possible care throughout this process. Out of respect for Rodion and his family, the club refrains from further comment for the time being."

It is noted that now Amirov is undergoing treatment in a medical facility in Germany and will not return to the ice until the end of the season.

In the current KHL season, 20-year-old Amirov played ten matches for the Ufa club, in which he scored one goal and made two assists. After that, he got injured. It was also reported that during the training camp before the 2021/22 season, Amirov suffered a concussion.
