Outfitter CSKA responded to US sanctions against the club

Specializing in the production of sportswear and footwear, the Joma company said it would continue to work with the CSKA football club, which fell under US sanctions. Igor Zavodyany, director of Joma Sport in Russia and Belarus, told RBC Sport about this.

“The Joma brand has not yet received information about being included in the PFC CSKA sanctions list. We will continue our cooperation within the current contract with the club. The brand will continue its work and the fulfillment of all its sponsorship obligations to partners in the Russian Federation,” he said.

Joma clarified that they do not want to deal with political issues. “So, in a nutshell, we continue our work as usual with great prospects for the development of the company on the territory of the Russian Federation,” Zavodiany emphasized.

Football club CSKA came under US sanctions Football CSKA was on the sanctions list of the US Treasury after Russia recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR). The new sanctions list included a number of companies that are part of the VEB corporation, which owns a controlling stake in the army club (77.64%).

CSKA signed a sponsorship contract with Joma in the summer of 2020. Prior to this, the army team performed in equipment from Umbro, Adidas, Nike and Reebok. Joma is the technical sponsor of over 300 football teams. The company makes uniforms for clubs such as Anderlecht, Hoffenheim, Torino, Atalanta, Getafe, Villarreal, Eibar, as well as the national teams of Romania and Ukraine.
