Latvian Minister of Education and Science Anita Muižniece will propose amendments to the sports law in order to suspend the participation of Dinamo Riga in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) championship, reports bbabo.net.lv.

“I hope that we will finally finish talking about sports (and about music too), which “allegedly” has nothing to do with politics ... Yes, I especially want to highlight Dynamo Riga and the fact that this “story” is about participation in the Russian Open should be completed altogether," she wrote on her Twitter.

Dynamo Riga has been playing in the Kontinental Hockey League since 2008. This season, the residents of Riga took the last 12th place in the Western Conference of the KHL. "Barys" has also been represented in this tournament since 2008. In the regular KHL championship of the current season, the club from Nur-Sultan exchanged victories with the inhabitants of Riga - a 2:3 defeat in Latvia and 7:1 in Kazakhstan.

"Barys" in the quarterfinals of the Gagarin Cup in the Eastern Conference will play with "Metallurg". The first match will take place on March 1st.
