Latvian Minister of Education and Science Anita Muižniece will propose amendments to the sports law prohibiting Dinamo Riga from playing in the KHL, reports

“I hope that the conversations about sports (yes, also about music) supposedly not related to politics will finally end ... Yes, I especially want to highlight the Dynamo Riga and the fact that this story about participation in the Russian Open should generally end,” Muizhniece wrote on Twitter.

Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics also spoke out against the participation of Dinamo Riga in the KHL. “I would like our people to understand how serious it is that in this case, sports, culture and entertainment in authoritarian countries, especially aggressive ones, are used exclusively for political purposes,” Rinkevics was quoted as saying by LTV Ziņu dienests.
