Russia filed an appeal to the sports arbitration court against the suspension of football teams and clubs

The Russian Football Union has filed an appeal with the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sports) against the decision of FIFA and UEFA to remove Russian teams and clubs from international competitions.

On February 28, the organizations suspended Russian clubs and the national team from participating in all international competitions. Prior to this, the refusal to play with the Russian national team in the play-offs for the right to play at the World Cup in Qatar was announced by the national teams of Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic. Albania, Ireland, Switzerland and England also refused to meet with Russia.

Due to sanctions from FIFA and UEFA, the Russian women's team will also miss Euro 2022. At the club level, this season's ban affected Spartak Moscow, which remained the last representative of Russia in European competition and was supposed to play in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League with RB Leipzig.

At the same time, it became known earlier that FIFA is looking for options for the Russian team to continue the fight for access to the 2022 World Cup.
