Why Baisufinov was removed and is Karpovich ready to lead the Kazakhstan national team

The new leadership of the KFF made the first important personnel decision - there was a change in the head coach of the Kazakhstan national team. The bbabo.net correspondent talks about the controversial stage of Talgat Baysufinov's work and does not expect a miraculous transformation of the team under Andrey Karpovich.

Baisufinov did not fail, but did not give stability

Talgat Maruanovich often repeated thesis - "stabilization of the game." Has he achieved it? Globally, no. There were various factors at play here. The work of the coach of the national team as a whole is very specific, here the whole football structure in the country and other details are extremely important.

Under Baysufinov's leadership, the national team played several emotionally bright matches and achieved encouraging results, although the quality of the game did not always correspond to the score on the scoreboard. That is why, at a distance, the Kazakhstan national team still did not jump higher than fifth place in its 2022 World Cup qualification group.

Baysufinov did not allow the national team to fall as it was under Bilek in the League of Nations group in 2020, once again proving himself to be an excellent motivator. But he failed to take the bbabo.net command to a new level.

Karpovich - young, ambitious, but extremely cautious

I must say that Karpovich's playing qualities are already inherent in him as a coach - he is not afraid of anything, and even at the start of his coaching career he was twice ready for big challenges. At the start of his coaching career, Karpovich picked up "Kairat" in a situation where it was necessary to end the season exclusively with the Kazakh team, and he even managed to win the title - the Cup of the country. After a good job in Okzhetpes, he also almost ended up in Astana. Therefore, in terms of coaching experience, Karpovich is a completely ready candidate for the national team, because he found himself in different circumstances and in most cases coped with a serious misfire only once - with Okzhetpes in the 2020 season.

But it is not worth expecting a total change in the style and pattern of the team's game in the near future. Andrei Vladimirovich has established himself as a rational coach, and his teams were often more defensive, although, of course, in the conditions of Okzhetpes and Kyzyl-Zhar, building an attacking team and achieving results with it is a daunting task.

Therefore, now there is almost no doubt that the scheme of three central defenders will be preserved. Again, the emphasis on standards will not disappear anywhere.

Joints with Moldova - this is the level of the national team

Unfortunately, the invitation of different coaches to the national team did not change anything globally. Stoilov started off great with wins in friendly matches, but terribly failed in the first draw of the League of Nations. Bilek repeated the record ten points in the cycle, but in the team still ended up in fifth place, ahead of only San Marino. Baisufinov gnawed draws with Ukraine and Bosnia with the national team, but again - we are the last ones at a distance.

It's time to realize that the level of the national team is just somewhere between division C and D in the League of Nations. We are not quite dwarfs, a couple of times a year we can shine and defeat Scotland or win back with Ukraine, but we simply do not have a personnel margin of safety and class.

The national team needs a systematic coach and, to some extent, a manager. Is this Karpovich? At this stage, probably not. Can he grow into such - yes, because in terms of the result shown with the clubs, he is potentially one of the strongest specialists in Kazakhstan. At the same time, the same Grigory Babayan seems to be a more ready coach for this position, but, apparently, he himself refused the national team.

The choice in favor of Karpovich will be logical if the federation gives him a full chance, allows him to make mistakes and grow. But if this is a local change of coach just to cheer up the team before the most important junctions, we will again remain at the same stage of development, or rather, at the stage of stagnation. The federation should be responsible for its choice, and if the national team of Kazakhstan under the leadership of Karpovich loses to Moldova, then removing the coach means admitting that there was no long-term plan and the KFF only spoiled the reputation of the young coach by dumping all the burden on him.
