17 fans died during the match. Details of sanctions revealed

Fans of "Queretaro" staged a crazy massacre during the match of the Mexican Football Championship with "Atlas" (at 0:1). They fought in the stands with chairs, fences, metal bars, ran onto the field, and destroyed the VAR equipment. Even children got it: one of the boys was forced to take off the t-shirt of the opposing team. The match was not completed, according to "Match TV".

According to official figures, 26 people were injured, two in serious condition. Journalist David Medrano reported terrible information about 17 dead, but then apologized and denied everything, citing emotions. In social networks, they do not believe him: they believe that such a horror could not do without deaths, and the journalist was forced to issue a refutation by threats.

And now to the sanctions:

- "Queretaro" will not be expelled from the Mexican championship, but will be awarded a forfeit defeat. Until March 23, 2023, the club (including the youth team and the women's team) will play at home without spectators for a year;

- Active fans are prohibited from attending home matches for three years (and a year at other stadiums);

- A fine of 70 thousand dollars and a 5-year ban for a group of club owners. "Queretaro" must be sold by the end of the calendar year;

- Perpetrators of the massacre will receive a lifetime ban from attending matches in Mexico.

The authorities believe that damage has been done to the reputation of the state and all of Mexican football. Therefore, police officers and other persons responsible for security lost their positions.

Earlier, the International Football Federation (FIFA) responded to the riots.
