The UFC heavyweight champion will be out for nine months. Details

UFC heavyweight champion French fighter of Cameroonian origin Francis Ngannou will miss nine months due to knee surgery, according to ESPN.

According to his manager Markel Martin Ngannou, while preparing for the fight with Cyril Gan, he injured the medial collateral and anterior cruciate ligaments. That fight, which took place in January, Ngannou won, defending the title, which was won in March 2021 in a fight with American Stipe Miocic.

The fight with Gan was the last for Ngannou under the contract with the UFC. Despite the fact that the contract with the organization is still valid, Ngannou said that he did not intend to fight in the UFC on the same terms.
