Mayweather on Canelo's status and Golovkin trilogy

Jeff Mayweather, former trainer and uncle of Floyd Mayweather Jr., spoke on Tha Boxing Voice about the status of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, to whom his nephew is being compared, according to bbabo.net.

When asked if the Mexican had already reached the level of "untouchables" that Floyd had, Jeff replied:

"That's how I see it. I think he's the best fighter in the world. I see Canelo is the best fighter in the world. I see a lot of Floyd in Canelo. The way he moves, in the beginning he was not so good in defense, now he moves his head.

You can see he worked on a lot of things and I see a lot of Floyd. Not exactly the same, but I think he copied something," he added.

The former boxer and trainer felt that Dimitri Bivol would not be a problem for Canelo.

"I don't think he's a challenge. I've seen him, I don't want to say he's not impressive, but Canelo is better," Mayweather said.

Instead, he believes the best fight would be against David Benavidez: "I think Benavidez will be a tough fight and I could beat him."

Keep in mind that the American specialist does not see a trilogy with Golovkin.

“I think Canelo won the first fight, the second and I think that the third. Gennady is already inactive,” Mayweather summed up.
