Biathlon World Championship medalist Russian Tatyana Akimova will resume training only next year, due to illness, she will not be able to take part in the qualifying competitions for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. “At the end of October, her maxillary sinuses became inflamed, but the diagnosis was made incorrectly, the moment was missed, and a serious complication arose. In December, Tatiana tried to return to duty, but her temperature rose again - up to 39 degrees, ”said Kugaevsky.

According to him, the athlete was diagnosed with the flu, she is at home for treatment, and she may start training in January.

Thus, 31-year-old Akimova will not be able to perform at the end of December at the Izhevsk rifle. These competitions are qualifying for the January stages of the World Cup and the IBU Cup, where the composition of the Russian national team for the Olympics will be formed.

Before the start of this season, due to illness, Akimova missed the control starts of the Russian national team, where the composition for the first international starts was formed.
