General Director of FC "Astana" Tastanbek Yesentaev commented on the possibility of moving to the championship of Russia, reports Sport24.
The capital club in the new KPL season started with two defeats, but is considered as a contender for the tournament medals.
"Of course, it would be interesting for us to play in the Russian championship, because it is at a high level. However, playing in the Kazakh championship, Astana can get into European competition. And if we participate in the Russian championship, then there will hardly be such an opportunity .
A very difficult question. This needs to be discussed with the federation of the republic. I can't say if this option would be considered or not. If they offer it, then we will already think about it," Yesentaev stated.
We add that earlier Russian clubs and the national team were suspended from tournaments under the auspices of UEFA.
