Alimkhanuly can become world champion after the next fight. Details

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) made a decision on the fight of the world middleweight champion American Demetrius Andrade (31-0-0, 19 KOs), who was supposed to defend his WBO title in a fight with Kazakhstani Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (11-0, 7 KOs) , but moved to the second middleweight, the correspondent of bbabo.net reports. Now the American will compete for the "interim" WBO super middleweight title with Briton Zach Parker (22-0-0, 16 KOs).

And the Kazakhstani will enter the ring against the holder of the WBO Europe title Briton Danny Dignum (14-0-1, 8 KOs) in a duel for the interim middleweight title. The WBO also issued a statement regarding this fight.

WBO releases statement on Alimkhanuly's title fight

“WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade has ten days after his scheduled May 21, 2022 interim super middleweight title fight against Zach Parker to decide whether he will stay at super middleweight or return to middleweight. If Andrade returns to middleweight weight, then the winner of the fight between Alimkhanuly and Dignum must face him 180 days after the fight to determine only one WBO middleweight champion.

However, if Andrade loses the fight to Parker, then the WBO middleweight title will become "vacant" and the winner of the Alimkhanuly-Dignum fight will be promoted to the "full" WBO middleweight champion," the WBO said in a statement.

Recall that after the failure of the fight with Andrade, Alimkhanula lost two more fights: against the Brazilian Esquiva Falcao (29-0, 20 KOs) and the Mexican Jaime Munguia (39-0, 31 KOs).
