In the Champions League, they thought about changing the rules for selecting participants

In the Champions League, the rules regarding the principle of selection of participants in the tournament can be changed. It is reported by The Guardian.

According to the source, members of the Association of European Clubs are lobbying for the idea that two teams will qualify for the Champions League based on their place in the UEFA club rankings.

In this case, clubs that take places in the national championships in the Europa League zone or win the cup will be able to qualify for these two vouchers. The chances of getting into the Champions League will depend on the performance of the clubs over the past five seasons.

It is noted that the Association of European Clubs is already in talks with UEFA.

There are currently 32 teams in the Champions League group stage: 26 clubs, including last season's Champions League and UEL winners, as well as six play-off round winners.
