Ronaldo has made a decision about his future in the Portuguese national team

Portugal and Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to a question about his retirement from international football, according to ESPN.

The 37-year-old is set to play for the national team in the 2022 World Cup qualifier play-off against North Macedonia. The game will take place on the night of March 30 in Porto.

“They start asking me the same question. The only one who will decide my future is me and no one else. If I want to play further, I will play, if I don’t want to, I won’t. I will decide, period,” Ronaldo said.

In case of victory in this match, the Portuguese guarantee themselves access to the 2022 World Cup.

Asked if the World Cup could be the same without him, Ronaldo said: "Without Portugal there is no World Cup, there are no individuals here, we are a group. I always consider myself the favorite, whether we play at home or at check out.

We already know that if we win, we will go to the World Cup, if we lose, we will be eliminated. It's our responsibility to be positive and win the game."

"They have surprised opponents in many matches, but I believe they will not surprise us tomorrow," Ronaldo said of North Macedonia. "Portugal will be better and we will go to the World Cup. For us, this is also the game of our lives."

Recall that Ronaldo made his debut for the Portuguese national team in August 2003 in a friendly game with Kazakhstan (1:0).
