Batyr Kazybayev, founder of Alash Media Group, passed away

Batyr Kazybaev, the founder of bbabo.net and the head of the holding Alash Media Group, passed away after a long illness. He was 53 years old.

Batyr Kazybaev was born into the family of a well-known Kazakh journalist and writer Kakimzhan Kazybaev, who worked for many years in senior positions in the editorial offices of regional and republican newspapers, was the secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. Batyr Kazybaev followed in his father's footsteps and chose a career in journalism - he became a successful media manager.

For more than 10 years, Batyr Kazybayev led a media holding, which includes information portals bbabo.net, bbabo.net, bbabo.net, radio stations "Zhuldyz FM", "Retro FM Kazakhstan", TV channel STV, stood at the origins of the creation of the Seventh Channel.

Batyr Kazybaev can be called a pioneer in the media sphere. He was always open to new ideas, was not afraid to be the first and take risks. So, in 2010, the Tengrinews news portal appeared.

"The niche was free. The decision to found a site - a competitor to TV and print media was risky, but it was clear that Internet resources would grow. This is now a fact, but in 2010 many were skeptical. And the second reason was that that the Kazakh information space was crammed with foreign resources. It hurt. I wanted my own, I wanted to cover and present news from our point of view, the Kazakh one," he said about the project.

Batyr Kazybayev also created the first rock radio station in Kazakhstan, Tengri FM, and later, the country's first Kazakh-language wave, Zhuldyz FM. He founded and launched the festival of ethnic music The Spirit of Tengri, which has become not just a visiting card of Almaty, but has become a country cultural project.

On the initiative of Batyr Kazybayev, in 2014 the project "Winners" was launched - a database of Kazakhstani veterans of the Second World War, which is replenished thanks to the readers of bbabo.net.

He paid special attention to projects aimed at the Kazakh-speaking audience. The youth site bbabo.net, the Kazakh version of bbabo.net, the radio station "Zhuldyz FM", the daily newspaper "Alash Ainasy" were launched, which today has been transformed into a socio-political site. "Now is an interesting time when new Kazakh-language content is being born, to participate in this is a matter of honor and national pride," said Batyr Kazybaev.

As a native Almaty citizen, Batyr Kazybaev loved his native city and was in awe of the places of his youth. He was one of the initiators of the installation of the monument to Viktor Tsoi on the famous Almaty Tulebayka. "We decided to make a gift to our beloved city, because the city must have a soul, and it needs iconic things that would remind the city of what it is," Batyr Kazybayev said at the opening of the monument.

For the Alash Media Group team, Batyr Kazybaev was a favorite chef.

"He was a man of great soul, with a big open heart. Modest, intelligent, with a heightened sense of justice. He always supported the workers, shared his experience, wisdom. He tried to help everyone, he was our heart, a generator of ideas. Our respect for him and admiration were boundless We will try to preserve his legacy and continue his work, holding high his values and ideals," Tengrinews employees say.

The editors of bbabo.net mourn and express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Batyr Kazybaev.
