Indian police have launched an investigation into Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova and German race car driver Michael Schumacher in a real estate fraud case, R-Sport reports with reference to The Indian Express portal.

In 2017, Delhi resident Shafali Agarwal went to court after she bought an apartment in a residential area under construction in the Indian city of Gurgaon. According to her, indicated in the lawsuit, she and her husband paid about 80 thousand pounds sterling for housing, but the project was never realized. Agarwal noted that the project was actively advertised on behalf of Sharapova and Schumacher. People fell under their influence and were deceived.

The court has already instructed the police to open an investigation into the case.
