The world champion in two weight categories and the holder of the WBO middleweight title (up to 72.6 kg) American Demetrius Andrade (31-0, 19 KOs) intends to move to the next division, writes BoxingScene.
As the source notes, Andrade decided to give up the title and rise to the second middleweight (up to 76.2 kg). The reason for this was the unwillingness of the American to meet with the holder of the temporary title from Kazakhstan Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (12-0, 8 KOs) and the lack of career prospects.
Recall that Andrade has not boxed since November 2021, when he defeated Irish fighter Jason Quigley (19-2, 14 KOs) in the second round ahead of schedule. Because of this, the American was once again criticized for weak opposition.
Recall that in May Alimkhanuly won the belt of the "interim" WBO champion, knocking out Briton Danny Dignum (14-1-1, 8 KOs) in the second round.
