The leadership of the Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF) has not yet clarified the situation regarding the position of the head coach in the national team. The correspondent of bbabo.net argues whether there will be a new specialist in the team or Talgat Baysufinov will retain this post.

In December, the final KFF conference was held, but in a strange way no public statements were made regarding the performances of the national teams, but suddenly they started talking about grassroots football. Probably, this year we will not receive any assessments and statements. But the coach of the national team is necessary one way or another, since already in March Kazakhstan expects a two-legged confrontation with Moldova in the League of Nations, where it is extremely important for us not to fall to the bottom in the hierarchy of European national teams.

In this regard, the question is, did the national team of Kazakhstan fail the qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup? In the wake of the biggest defeat from France, most fans have an unequivocal answer - yes. But if we objectively discard the collapse in Paris, the performance of the national team turned out not to be a failure, but not entirely positive, in general, on a C, by the way, that is how many points we scored in the last cycle.

If we talk about the results, two draws with Ukraine (the quarter-finalist of Euro 2020) have already entered the history of the national team with a plus sign. Yes, these games were not without luck, but our team simply cannot fail to lose to a team of this level in another way. Plus a draw with Bosnia on the road - another good result. We discard two games with France (here the difference in the class of players was just gigantic), we regret the minimal defeat in Helsinki (besides, there was a far from optimal composition) and we get that only two official games (with Finland and Bosnia at home), in which the national team looked completely inert, without ideas, and as a result - without result.

You will talk about the quality of the game. Yes, there are questions, but rather to the players. Baysufinov definitely created a tactical pattern in the team, it can be felt even in details, for example, in the goals scored - quick transitions from defense to attack (an exemplary counter-attack in Kiev), attention to standards (two goals against the Bosnians), the influence of flank laterals (over- performance by Ruslan Valiullin against the Ukrainians). Talgat Maruanovich often talks about the stabilization of the game, and this is what we lack. The national team coach has little time to work with the players. In addition, the class of our footballers leaves much to be desired, there are many problematic positions in the team, and in the event of injuries, this leads to even more serious consequences. Not because of a good life, Baysufinov throws young debutants Astanov and Samorodov into battle with France. Now the team is joined by players who have not yet become (or may not have become at all) the new Shomko, Logvinenko, Islamkhan.

In this regard, the words of coach Pavel Cherepanov, who until recently was part of Baisufinov's headquarters and knows very well what kind of work the coach was doing and what he was heading for, stands at bbabo.net:

“My opinion is that Talgat Maruanovich should continue to work in the national team. He was given two tasks: to successfully perform in the tournament and to reset the national team.

The first task was not completed for an objective reason - our players do not have the required skill level. The second was solved successfully. Why? First, a large group of promising footballers has been identified. Secondly, the team's playing scheme has been developed and tested in practice, which is based on modern principles of building a game. Thirdly, it was concluded that it is impossible to achieve successful results in the future, if effective feedback “national teams - clubs” is not organized.

In this segment of the life of the Baisufinov national team, it really looks like the best candidate to continue working. Now there is not a single coach in the world who knows all the candidates for the national team as thoroughly as Talgat Maruanovich. Inviting a new coach (especially a foreigner) entails risks before important games with Moldova. The chances of shooting and failing are roughly equal. But if there is a failure with Moldova, then this is a huge reputational blow to the coach, he will lose confidence almost immediately, which means there is no long-term perspective in this.

Of course, Baysufinov is also not a guarantee of a result with Moldova, but with him the chances are probably a little higher, because he has already laid the game principles in the team, the players accept this, besides, the reputation of a good motivator is also a factor deserving attention before such a crucial segment ...
