The famous American journalist Michael Montero, who writes about boxing, recalled the scandalous outcome of the first fight between Kazakh Gennady Golovkin and Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez, bbabo.net reports.
That fight took place in September 2017 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) and ended in a controversial draw, although most saw GGG winning. The biggest resonance was caused by the referee's note from Adelaide Bird, who scored Alvarez's victory with a score of 118-110.
Artificial intelligence determined the winner of the scandalous fight Golovkin - Canelo
"Golovkin beat Canelo in the first fight. I give Canelo his second loss after losing to Mayweather. It's a shame that Golovkin got robbed," tweeted user Ray Bama, to which Montero responded:
"My jaw dropped when they announced the judges' scores, especially the scores from the worst judge in boxing history. Crazy."
Let us add that in September 2018, Golovkin and Canelo had a second fight, which ended in the Mexican’s victory by majority decision.
In 2022, the rivals closed the trilogy. This time Alvarez won by unanimous decision.
Golovkin was credited with two wins over Canelo Alvarez
