Ukrainian boxer Lomachenko melted medals in Russia for a gift to his father

Two-time Olympic boxing champion, Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko sent his gold medals to a workshop in Russia to make a cross out of them as a.jpgt to his father for his birthday. The workshop in Kostroma, which received the order, announced this in its Instagram.

Lomachenko donated medals from the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games to the workshop. A pectoral cross was made of them. To make it, they did not re-melt the Olympic medals completely, but sawed off a small piece from each.

In amateur boxing, Lomachenko won all possible titles - the gold of the Olympic Games, the World Championship (2009, 2011), the European Championship (2008). Twice he won the Val Barker Trophy for the best boxer in the Olympic Games (2008, 2012), and in 2013 he became the individual winner of the semi-professional World Series of Boxing (WSB).

Lomachenko turned professional, where he held the WBA, WBO, WBC lightweight titles. He lost them in a unification battle against American Teofimo Lopez in October 2020. The 33-year-old Lomachenko spent his last fight on December 12, two-time Olympic boxing champion Ukrainian, defeating former world lightweight champion Richard Commey from Ghana.
