Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev has contracted the coronavirus. The fifth number of the rating of the Association of Tennis Professionals announced this on Twitter.
“Currently I am in Barcelona, I have minimal symptoms,” wrote Rublev. "I have isolated."
“As you know, I am fully vaccinated and prepared for the ATP Cup and Australian Open,” added the 24-year-old tennis player.
On January 1, the ATP Cup tournament starts, in which Rublev planned to participate.
The Russian national team at the ATP Cup got into group B and will play with teams from Italy, Austria and Australia. The Australian Open will take place from 17 to 30 January.
Rublev is the winner of eight ATP tournaments. In 2021, in Tokyo, he won Olympic gold in mixed doubles with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. At the Grand Slam tournaments, he did not go further than the quarterfinals. As part of the Russian national team last season, the winner of the Davis Cup and the ATP Cup.
