"It seems that the youth world championship needs to be canceled. The sports principle in such an environment is violated. The organizers must make a key decision. To deprive the team of victory simply because someone in the team is ill is a transcendent story," Fetisov quotes RIA News.
He added that the situation with the coronavirus that has developed at the tournament is difficult to explain.
On Wednesday evening, the Council of the International Ice Hockey Federation is holding a meeting at which a decision can be made to cancel the tournament.
