Bolshunov won silver in the mass start at the Tour de Ski on his 25th birthday

On the final day of 2021, the world's strongest skiers continued to fight for victory in the prestigious Tour de Ski multi-day race. This time they were expected to race 15 km free style with a mass start.

The leader of the overall standings of the competition, Norwegian Jonannes Klebo, was in the leading group from the very beginning of the race. The winner of the last season's race, Russian Alexander Bolshunov, who is trying to find his best shape during these starts, did not lag behind him. Moreover, the Russian celebrated his 25th birthday on this day.

The race ended towards the end of the final lap. A group of skiers, which included Klebo and Bolshunov, managed to break away from their pursuers. The Norwegian at the finish line easily ran away from his pursuers, having achieved victory. In the battle for the second place, Bolshunov was ahead of another Norwegian Shura Rete, losing to the winner just over three seconds.
