The screen version of the game Mortal Kombat will receive a sequel

The film adaptation of the popular fighting game Mortal Kombat in 2021 will receive a sequel, Variety reports, citing the decision of New Line studios CInema and Warner Bros.

Jeremy Slater, who wrote the script for Marvel's Moon Knight series, will write the script for the new adaptation.

The date of the premiere of the new film is still unknown, as well as whether the contracts with the artists who played in the previous part will be re-signed. At the same time, back in April 2021, actor and athlete Joe Taslim, who played the role of Sabziro in the new film adaptation of the Mortal Kombat video games, admitted on the Just for Variety podcast that his contract with Warner Bros. for five films.

The studio promised to make a decision based on the box office performance of Simon McQuoid's film.
