Russia (bbabo.net), - February 10 - Memorial Day of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. In the life of there were almost 30 challenges to a duel. True, in most cases the matter either did not reach the duel and ended with the reconciliation of the parties, or the opponents missed. Pushkin never fired first.
However, the winter of 1837 turned out to be fatal - Alexander Sergeevich was seriously wounded in a duel with Georges Dantes. The events of those days still cause a lot of controversy: whether there was an "offensive" set of circumstances, generated not least by the stormy temper of the writer, or was it a carefully planned operation with the participation of those in power.
The TV channel "Russia-Culture" has prepared a special program for the day of the poet's memory. On February 10 at 08:20 the film "The Last Road" by Leonid Menaker will be shown. The events of the picture unfold around the duel between Pushkin and Dantes. The film starred: Alexander Kalyagin, Irina Kupchenko, Elena Karadzhova, Anna Kamenkova, Innokenty Smoktunovsky and others.
The film by Leonid Menaker ("The Lark", "The Young Wife") tells about the last hours of the poet's life, but does it in a peculiar manner: on the one hand, the film is entirely concentrated on the personality of Alexander Sergeevich and the events before and after February 10, 1837, and on the other hand, the main character almost does not appear in the frame. It didn't seem to you: a picture about Pushkin, but without Pushkin. As the director explained in an interview, for him the figure of a classic of Russian literature is something sacred; you need to have remarkable courage to show it on the screen.
"A rake, a savage with Arab blood, a ladies' man" - this is how Alexander Sergeevich appears at the beginning in the memoirs of Gekkern, Dantes and other ill-wishers. Pushkin is blamed for both frenzied jealousy of his wife and frivolity. But an amazing thing: all these spiteful critics condemn the poet and call the poems written by him boring and unremarkable, but at the same time they know many of them by heart, and the most irreconcilable opponents find the courage to admit that the writer has a gift, for which he can be If you don't love, then at least respect. One of the heroes says so: "As a man - I forgive, as a minister - I will not allow Russia to be corrupted." However, if we look at the poet through the eyes of Zhukovsky, the Vyazemskys or Natalia Goncharova, we will see another facet of the image - an absolutely hunted loner, whose furious attacks are a reaction to provocations from the "enlightened" elite.
But the fatal shot was fired. "The Last Road" shows that this event is extremely tragic ... but absolutely natural. Pushkin is not just a talented writer, he, by his very existence, challenged an entire era - uniforms that are not worn with honor; a service that can only be endured; high-ranking ranks, whose exorbitant power can be shaken by goose feathers. The persecuted was not destined to peacefully meet old age, and if not for Dantes or an invitation to the cuckold club, then something else would certainly have played a role.

The film was made in the synthetic genre - a combination of documentary films and artistic animation, created on the basis and based on the graphics of Rezo Gabriadze. This is Andrey Bitov's last shooting. “Pushkin did not die, but turned into a butterfly, picked up Natalya Nikolaevna and flew to Brenta (Italy). Rezo Gabriadze came up with this. We wanted it to be a fun, light film. Joyful, so that everyone would be inspired,” says Asya Guseva, the author of the film .
The friendship between Gabriadze and Bitov lasted half a century, both revered Pushkin, and this love was melted down into the books Hardworking Pushkin and Metamorphosis. Friends not only reflect on the fate and work of the great Russian poet. First of all, they talk about themselves and their friendship. They remember how the legend was born that Pushkin turned into a butterfly...
