Russia (bbabo.net), - The Literary Prize of the Yunost magazine named after Valentin Kataev has announced the start of the second season. This is one of the few national literary awards that supports authors of short fiction and convincingly proves that modern literature is not limited to book publications of novels.
The competition accepts stories published after January 1, 2021, but no later than December 31, 2021. Literary magazines, publishing houses, specialized publications and unions, libraries and higher educational institutions can act as nominees. The organizers of the award remind that only one story of each author can be nominated during one season. Applications are accepted until April 30, 2022.
All stories submitted to the competition will first be evaluated by the Small Jury. This year it included writer and literary reviewer Vera Bogdanova, editor Anastasia Shevchenko, critic Ivan Rodionov and critic and editor Tatyana Solovieva. This professional team will compile the Shortlist for the award, which will be published in July 2022.
Then the Grand Writers' Jury will take up the case: writer Pavel Basinsky, director Alexander Veledinsky, writer Andrey Rubanov, writer Olga Slavnikova and chairman of the award jury, writer, editor-in-chief of Yunost magazine Sergei Shargunov. It is they who will choose the winner, who will receive the main prize of the award - 300 thousand rubles.

But in the history of Russian literature there were many excellent short story writers and storytellers: Korolenko, Uspensky, Tolstoy, Chekhov, Bunin, Bulgakov, Olesha, Zoshchenko, Babel, Kataev, Kazakov, Shukshin ...
