Fincher criticizes 'Fight Club' ending change in China

Director David Fincher, who directed the film adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club, said that if the Chinese video service did not like the plot of the film, then they should not have licensed it, writes Empire.

"I find it meaningless when people say, 'I think it would be good for our service if we had your movie, but we want it to be a different movie.' He's already 20 years old, damn it. It never had a reputation for being a nice picture," Fincher lamented.

In the Chinese version, the picture ends with credits reporting that the protagonist and the police cleared the bombs, and the character of Edward Norton went to a psychiatric hospital.

At the same time, there really are no explosions in the original novel by Chuck Palahniuk, since a mistake was made when planting the bomb.

Earlier it was reported that the Chinese film company Alibaba Pictures will shoot a remake of Klim Shipenko's comedy Kholop. The film is scheduled to premiere in Chinese in 2023–2024.
