Actor Gennady Mitrofanov dies

Theater and film actor Gennady Mitrofanov died on February 14, Rossiyskaya.ru reports.

The cause of death of the 81-year-old Honored Artist of Russia was a severe and prolonged illness.

Gennady Mitrofanov was born in Gagra (Abkhazia). He lost his hearing at the age of two after a cold. While studying in schools for the deaf and hard of hearing, he played in school amateur performances.

After that, the future artist worked in Nikolaev in a typewriter repair artel, did gymnastics, and was a member of the Ukrainian national team among the deaf. After moving to Moscow, he entered the Theater Studio at the All-Russian Society of the Deaf. Even before the end of the studio, he began to travel with the Theater of Mimicry and Gesture on tour. In this theater he worked all his life.

Gennady Mitrofanov starred in "Boris Godunov" by Sergei Bondarchuk, in the films and TV series "Leningrad. November”, “Anna Karamazoff”, “To hell with them”, “Person K”, “Amphibian Man. Sea Devil", "Bastards", etc.
